Kersey Caldwell ... KD ... The Personality Photographer Age: 27 some college for photographic imaging ... mostly self taught from YouTube, Pinterest, Digital School Photography.
WHY ARE YOU A CREATIVE?
I became a creative to capture people in their true essence, show their true personality. I don’t like the term “model” because it tends to mean “tall, slim, etc..” I want people to feel that they can be a model no matter their shape, height, color, or look. I want to see people smile and make goofy faces, I don’t look for “sexy” I don’t really care for what Tyra Banks believes a model should be. I believe in personalities, I believe in people being themselves on camera and showing people that anyone can be photogenic.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE CREATIVE PROJECTS?
I’m really big in recreating looks. Send me a photo and let’s bring it to life. Creative special effects makeup has become a huge interest of mine as of lately and I have a couple of makeup artists that I will be working with to venture down that road with.
WHAT ARE SOME STRUGGLES THAT YOU'VE HAD IN YOUR BUSINESS LATELY?
Believing in myself and putting myself out there more. I’m so hard on myself despite the support and encouragement I get. I have to get out of my own way and show the world my craft.
WHAT ARE SOME WAYS THAT YOU HAVE FOUND TO OVERCOME YOUR OBSTACLES?
I’ve joined multiple photography groups on Facebook and started posting my work in those groups. I started my own group on Facebook to help those like myself grow as a photographer and get their portfolio expanded and meet new creatives to connect and collaborate with.
HOW HAS RENT A SET HELPED YOUR BUSINESS?
Rent A Set has given me a warm, safe haven to invite models in to escape the cold weather and create more of an isolated, intimate session. Giving personalities (models) the space to feel free to be more open and free flowing without onlookers and being nervous with eyes watching.
